Directions for easy donut recipe
Make the dough: Coat a large bowl with vegetable oil and set aside. Gently warm 1 / 2 cup milk and butter in small saucepan over medium heat. Mix water and yeast in a large bowl, stir to dissolve, and sprinkle with 1 / 4 teaspoon sugar. Leave for 5 minutes. Add warm milk and oil in the yeast mixture and stir to combine. Add remaining sugar, sour cream, eggs, yolks, salt and vanilla and stir to combine. Add flour gradually. Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth. Put it in the prepared bowl and turn to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and set aside in a warm, draft free place until doubled in volume - about 2 hours. Punch dough down again, cover the bowl with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 2 or up to 12 hours.
Make the donuts: Turn dough out onto a generously floured work surface. Lightly flour dough and roll out to about 3 / 4 inch thick. Cut donuts dough using a 3-inch circular cutter and transfer them to their holes to baking sheet. Collect the dough and then roll it again. Repeat the cutting donuts and holes until all dough is used. Chill donuts and holes for 30 minutes.
Fry donuts: Heat about 4 inches of vegetable oil in large deep skillet fitted with a thermometer over medium heat until the oil reaches 350 degrees F. Fry the donuts three at a time until golden brown - about 2 minutes on each side. Remove donuts and holes with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Repeat with the rest of the donuts and holes.
Make the glaze: Combine the remaining milk and confectioners' sugar in small bowl and stir until smooth. While the donuts and holes are still hot, dip them in the glaze and transfer to the lattice, until glaze is set and the donuts are cool. Serve immediately.
